An occasion when family relationships are strengthened and deepened and when parents (and even ‘Godparents’) become present to their responsibilities. ‘Godparent’, as used here, can refer to someone who will look after the child throughout their life with a view to the spirit and passion in life, or assisting the child to help transform bewildering experiences, or whatever someone is willing to take on, that is a commitment to the child’s welfare.
